Software For Organising Twitter at the Conference

Today I will tell you about my experience in planning, organisign and providing onsite twitter-wall and twitter feed at the very big technical conference. First of all we have big and wide screen and we want our Twitter feed to be displayed there. What about offensive comments and spam ask you? Yes, it is very important to have moderation opportunities. So I evaluate software by several points:

1. Price - is it free and if not, what's the price?
2. Do I have an opportunity to moderate tweets?
3. Is It good-looking? As it will be seen bu hundreds of people it should look ok.

So let's go!

1. Twitterfall

Twitterfall.com - the best tool I've seen so far. Allows you to display feeds of Twitter lists, searches (words + #tags) and has an opportunity to add Exclusions which won't be displayed. Also you can delete messages after they are displayed.

The tool is absolutely free, looks awesome as well.

2. TweetChat

Another suitable thing is tweetchat.com. It can display feed by #tag, you can ban users and delete messages, but you can not prevent bad things to be displayed because it has no Exclusions functionality.

Looks not bad nor awesome. Absolutely free tool.

3.  Twijector

Russian project of MKechinov.ru studio. Well designed twijector.com can display feed by #tag, has its own predefined list of Exclusions (which could not be modified), and you can ban bad users.

Looks very good. The tool is free.

4. ParaTweet

Paid service which allow you to moderate tweets and display them after moderation, paratweet.com displays questions to the speaker using special widget and lots of other stuff. For free version only one stream + automatic filtering are available.

Looks good. Price is $80 monthly for Medium (Good) plan and $140 for Premium (Great) plan.

5.  StreamTwitter.com, TidyTweet.com, TweetWallPro.com - services which are paid, not that beautiful and have sometimes very strange pricing. FOr example to get prices of TweetWallPro you should write an email to their marketers. I did it a month ago and still waiting for reply.

Russian version of this write-up is available here.
